Send Salonized e-mails from your own custom domain

Do you want to send Salonized e-mails to your customers from your own custom domain? This article explains how to set it up!

Updated over a week ago

When you create your Salonized account, your Salonized e-mails are sent to your customers from your default Salonized e-mail address ([your_salon_name]@email.salonized.com).

If you own a custom domain (e.g. yoursalonname.nl), it’s possible to link this with your Salonized account so that your Salonized e-mails send from your custom e-mail (e.g. info@yoursalonname.nl).

What is a custom domain?

A custom domain is one that you own and pay for - it doesn’t include free domains like gmail.com / outlook.com / icloud.com. If you don’t currently own a custom domain, but are interested in buying one, you can check out a provider like squarespace, GoDaddy and IONOS. These are just a few examples of custom domain providers, but please take the time to research alternative providers to make sure that you pick one that’s right for your budget and needs.

To send your Salonized e-mails from your custom domain, you first need to “verify” your custom domain. This is done using something called “Domain Name System” (DNS) records, which allows Salonized to verify that you are the owner of the domain.

⚠️ Please follow the steps below to complete custom domain verification

How to verify your custom domain

  1. In Salonized, go to Settings > Company > Domain settings

  2. Enter your custom domain (e.g. info@yoursalonname.nl) in the CONTACT EMAIL ADDRESS field and press Submit

  3. Copy the three CNAME records that are revealed. Note that each CNAME record has two parts (NAME and VALUE). You need to add both parts for each CNAME record to your DNS settings in step 4.

  4. Log into your domain provider and navigate to DNS settings You can search online for [the name of your domain provider] DNS settings to find the relevant instructions for you. Here are example instructions from some well known domain providers (Squarespace instructions, GoDaddy instructions, IONOS instructions).

  5. Add the three CNAME settings (DNS records) and save

And that’s it! If you’ve done everything correctly, you just need to wait for the DNS setting changes to propagate (this can take up to 72 hours).

While you wait, you can go back to the Salonized Domain settings page and click I have completed step 2 or Check verification status.

For questions about DNS settings, please contact your domain provider. For any other questions, feel free to contact our support team!
