* Note: In the Netherlands and Belgium, tips are considered taxable income for employees, but they are not subject to payroll tax for the employer.
How Tipping works
When you select Salonized Pay
as the payment method during check out, the first screen your customer will see is the Tipping screen:
Your customer can choose one of the following options:
2%
5%
10%
Custom
No tip
The chosen tip amount is then added to the transaction total and your customer pays in a single payment.
The appointment value is subject to the standard 1% Salonized Pay terminal fee. The tip value is ✨ free ✨.

For each tip, Salonized records things like the associated employee, appointment and service. You can explore tip data in a few places:

How to enable Tipping
Tipping is enabled by default, so no configuration required! If you would like to disable tipping you can do so in the Register (Register > Salonized Pay > Disable tips).

Q: Is a tip always required?
A: If tipping is enabled and Salonized Pay is selected as the payment method, the tipping screen will always show, but a tip is not required - the customer can select "no tip".
Q: What are the fees on tips?
A: Tips are fee-free ✨ You only pay the standard 1% transaction cost on the value of the appointment excluding tip.
Q: How are tips distributed among employees?
A: Tips are assigned to the employee who is linked to the appointment. If more than one employee is linked to an appointment, the tip is divided evenly by the number of employees. Right now it is not possible to pay tips out to employees directly within Salonized.
Q: What if a customer wants to give a cash tip instead?
Right now it's not possible to add a cash tip in Salonized.
Q: How are tips handled for tax purposes?
A: When a payment is processed, the tip amount is kept separate from the main transaction.This means that the tip amount is not included in the taxable amount.
