Optimising your Treatwell page

Follow this checklist to make your Treatwell profile ranks well in search results and increase your chances of getting a new booking

Updated this week

Maybe you've had you own page on Treatwell via Salonized for a little while now. Bookings via Treatwell don't just suddenly happen, it's something you can build up gradually, hence why it is very important to improve your page as much as possible on the Treatwell Marketplace.

In this help article, we share a checklist to make your page as professional as possible. We want to make sure you increase your visibility on Treatwell and that you start receiving new bookings and therefore customers.

The more you tick off the checklist, the more likely you are to receive new bookings.

📣 A further explanation of the checklist

1️⃣ Reviews

The biggest push in the Treatwell algorithm are reviews. Therefore, make sure you have all reviews from Salonized on Treatwell as well. You can check this via the feedback page in Salonized (you get this function as an extra if you have the appointment subscription and get the integration!).

When customers visit your Treatwell page for the first time, (recent) reviews play the biggest role; they will most likely base their choice on what previous customers have written about their experiences. Actively motivate your existing clients to leave a review after their appointment, this way you will build trust with new clients. Make sure you have set the feedback messages in Salonized to 'send always', you can do this via settings > clients > settings.

Our latest system update allows you to publish your previous reviews all at once on your Treatwell profile, and from now on, all new reviews will be automagically synchronized!

🪄

Good to know: once the 10th and later the 50th review gets published on Treatwell, you will receive a temporary boost on the Treatwell platform, which will temporarily position your salon higher in the search results 🎉

2️⃣ Timetable and availability

Make sure your schedule is in correctly set in Salonized. The more hours you are available, the more likely the Treatwell filter will match the time slot with the client's search query. To score better in the Treatwell ranking, we recommend to have at least 24 hours of availability per week. If you have a very busy week in terms of appointments, the salon is less likely to be shown in the search results.

So once again, it is vital that your schedule in Salonized is correct and that you have entered your availability. The more availability you offer, the more likely it is that the Treatwell filter will come up with the client's desired time slot on your page.

💡 To experiment, you can also add some hours in the evening, as there are many potential clients who can only visit during the week in the evening after office hours. Or are you usually only open during the week? Try out whether it helps to open for a few hours at the weekend, it might attract more people!

3️⃣ + 4️⃣ Own photos and salon description

What inspires even more confidence in customers is a visual impression of your salon, through your very own horizontal photos (stock photos are a temporary solution, send at least 5 of your own photos of the salon), and if you have a detailed salon description where they can find out a bit more about you and your business.

Email this information to support@salonized.com via WeTransfer, and we will customise it for you. Click here to see Treatwell's photo guidelines.

5️⃣ Visibility and communication to customers

Did you know that an average of 40% of bookings is made outside of opening hours? Ensure that clients can book online with you by sharing the link to your Treatwell page and/or Salonized booking widget on your website, social media, and emails. Make it as visible and clear as possible for the client so that they don't have to search for it. This way, customers can easily book online 24/7, which is ideal for those who book in the evening (or for customers who don't like calling).

This also ensures that you won't be distracted by phone calls during treatments, allowing you to focus on what you excel at: providing the treatments!

6️⃣ Provide a logical service/category list

Make sure you use names of services and categories that customers also understand, so they know immediately what they are booking. You may have to use more technical names, but in that case you can still explain what the service entails via settings > services > 'additional service information'.

Pay attention to spelling mistakes and make sure it's easy to read if you were looking at the page as a client. For example, if you offer PMU services, facials, waxing and nails we do not recommend showing PMU first, these services are generally on the expensive side and the average spend on Treatwell is not very big. The categories 'nails' and 'facials' are often booked on the platform, so we would show those at the top of the list. You can change the order of categories via the services settings page by dragging and dropping them or by clicking on the arrows.

Below we give an example of a clear and logical arrangement of categories and an example where the order is not logical, uppercase and lowercase letters are mixed up and there is no clear order (some categories can be grouped into 1 in this example). It's important to pay attention to this as it contributes hugely to the customer experience on your Treatwell page. This can make the difference between a booking and a customer leaving the page and looking elsewhere because it is not clear.

Good example of category order:

  1. Nails

  2. Facials

  3. Waxing

  4. PMU

❌ Bad example of how categories can be shown:

  1. PMU

  2. Waxing UPPER BODY

  3. Nails Feet

  4. Nails Hands

  5. Microneedling

  6. classic facials

  7. Facial waxing women

7️⃣ Last-minute discounts

Do you have the Salonized Pro subscription? Then you can also start offering discounts, which can definitely help give that extra push for visibility. During certain periods of the year, it can be quite quiet in terms of bookings.

If you set a last-minute discount, your salon will get a boost in the ranking (just like the points above) to get more visibility among new clients. A last-minute discount can be a great entry point to convert new customers to regulars. Good to know, customers can filter for salons with discounts on Treatwell, so you will be more likely to be found this way!

Please note that only last-minute discounts are currently working on Treatwell. Dynamic pricing is unfortunately not synchronised with the Treatwell page.

8️⃣ Providing flexibility to customers

Make sure your lead time, which is the time between booking an appointment and walking into the salon, is less than 1 hour in your Salonized account. To do this, go to Settings > Online appointments > Calendar management > 'Minimum time between booking the appointment and walking in'. Clients often book last-minute or on the same day via Treatwell, so this increases your chances of being found and booked on the platform.

9️⃣ Select 5 popular treatments

The section of popular treatments is the first thing a customer sees when they land on your Treatwell page. So it is important that you let us know which 5 services are often booked that are interesting for new customers to book. Do you only have 'expensive' services listed here? Then chances are high that a customer will lose interest and not look any further on your page. If you only list additional services and refills/touch-ups, they won't immediately see a service they can book as a new customer.

Double check all your services and send our support team an e-mail/chat message with the names of 5 services you want to show at the top of the page, they can adjust this for you.
