Google Calendar Integration

Salonized offers a Google Calendar integration that pushes Salonized Appointments into your Google Calendar. You can learn more about the basic setup of the integration here: Link Google Calendar to Salonized

This page describes an advanced setting in the Google Calendar integration: a synchronisation the other way around, allowing you to push your Google Calendar events back into Salonized as Absences.

Configure a separate agenda per employee

You are able to select an agenda per Employee, and a specific one for company-wide absences. You may also choose to not select a google agenda to create absences for each of the cases below, allowing full flexibility and configurability.

How do I enable the integration?

To enable the Absence synchronization for Google Calendar, head to the Integrations page in your Settings in the Salonized app.

Note: your user account needs the "Manager" role or higher to access this page

Find the Google Calendar integration and click on Settings. (If you have not enabled the integration yet, please follow the instructions on this page).

In the Settings popup, enable the absence sync in the second half of the screen. After enabling, you should see a list of your employees, and an option to select a calendar for the "Entire company".

How does the integration work?

By enabling the integration, you provide Salonized with access to read event information from your calendars. The Google Calendar events from the calendar that you configure will create an Absence for the resource for which you added this calendar. Whenever a new appointment is planned in Google Calendar, this time will be blocked and marked as unavailable in Salonized, preventing customers from booking these times.

If you add a google calendar for the "Entire Company", the absences that are created will affect every employee in your Salon. Be careful with this setting, as it will affect the availability for your customers to book appointments!

If you add a Google Calendar for a specific employee, only that employee's availability is affected by the Absences that are created.

Ignoring an event or recurring event

There is a "hidden" bonus feature in this integration, allowing you to ignore certain events and prevent them from creating an Absence in Salonized.

If you want to ignore an event in Google Calendar you can add the hashtag #sz_ignore in the event description.

For recurring events, you can add #sz_ignore_all in the event description of one of the events. This will ignore all events in the series.

Known Restrictions & Limitations

  • Only when enabling the integration for the first time, we do not import recurring events in google calendar.

    • All new recurring events in Google Calendar (the ones that are created after enabling the integration) are imported to Salonized.

  • Some recurring events in Google Calendar do not synchronize with Salonized:

    • Events scheduled on relative days per period, such as "every last Friday of the month" or "the 2nd week of the month," do not sync.

    • Events scheduled on a specific date, such as "every 17th of the month," do sync correctly.

    • Yearly recurring events also do not get synchronized

  • You are not able to modify or interact with the Absences from Salonized. It is therefore not possible to manage Google Calendar events from Salonized.

  • Yearly recurring events: Any events that recur annually in Google Calendar will not be imported to Salonized as absences.

  • Full-day recurring events: Any events that are scheduled to take up the full day and recur will not be imported to Salonized as absences.
