This article describes how to customize your bookable resources for each Service Variation.

This article describes the use of an advanced feature related to using Services with Variations. If you want to learn more about how to set up Service Variations, check out: Creating Services With Variations

Customizing Bookable Resources for Each Service Variation

With this feature, you can assign specific resources—such as employees, rooms, or tools—to individual variations of a service. This is particularly useful when different variations of a service require different employees or equipment.

For example:

  • Haircut (Variation 1: Junior Stylist) can be booked only with a junior stylist.

  • Haircut (Variation 2: Senior Stylist) can be booked only with a senior stylist.

This feature gives you more control and flexibility when managing your service catalog. However, it's important to configure it carefully, as incorrect settings may lead to unavailable time slots for your customers during online booking.

In the example below, we have configured the first variation (Junior Stylist) to be bookable for 2 out of 4 employees. The second variation (Senior Stylist) has only one bookable employee.

How to use the feature

Important note: This feature allows for highly customized service setups, but it also carries risks. If the resources are not set up or maintained correctly, your customers might not be able to see available time slots while booking - use it with care!

Option 1: Setting Resources per Variation in the Service Modal

  1. Go to the Services page in the Settings and either create a new service or edit an existing one.

  2. On the left-hand side you'll find the Resources tab. Go there, and you will see the option to configure employees, rooms, or tools for your service.

  3. At the top, you will find a setting: "The required employees, rooms, and tools are different per variation in this service"

  4. Configure the resources as needed for each service variation. For example, you can assign specific employees, rooms, or tools to only certain variations.

Option 2: Configuring Resources in the Admin Panel

  1. Go to the Settings page in the admin panel.

  2. Navigate to either the Employees or Resources section.

  3. From there, you can edit the employees or resources and enable or disable specific service variations per bookable resource. This is a great alternative if you're already familiar with setting up resources in your admin panel.
