How do I split my payments into wallets?

Put money aside for rent, taxes or your team automatically, the moment a client pays.

With wallets, you divide every Pay payment over several balances the moment a client pays, and each wallet pays out to its own bank account. You set a percentage for each wallet once, and the app splits every payment from then on. Below, you'll find which wallets you can have and how to set them up. What do I need before I can add a wallet?

  • A verified Pay account. Until your verification is complete, you can't add a wallet. Not verified yet? See how to get verified for Pay.

  • Administrator rights. Only owners and administrators can open and manage wallets.

  • The Pro plan, if you want a wallet for a team member.

Only Pay payments are split. Cash and other payment methods aren't. For more about Pay itself, see what you need to know about Pay.

Which wallets can I have?

  • Your 'Main wallet' receives everything that isn't sent to another wallet, and the transaction fees are paid from it. You can't change or remove it.

  • A company wallet receives a percentage of every Pay payment – for rent, taxes or savings.

  • A 'Team member wallet' receives a percentage of the services one team member does, when the client pays with Pay. This is only available for terminal payments and not for online payments.

You can have up to 10 wallets, including your main wallet.

How is a payment split across my wallets?

The moment a client pays with Pay, the app works out the share of each wallet. Your main wallet gets the rest.

  • A company wallet gets its percentage of the whole payment.

  • A team member wallet gets its percentage of the services that team member did. Retail products don't count for team member wallets.

  • Shares are based on what the client actually pays, so a discount lowers them too.

  • Each share is rounded down. What's left over goes to your main wallet.

  • The transaction fee is paid from your main wallet, so it doesn't lower the other shares.

  • On a very small payment, every share is lowered by the same proportion, so enough stays in your main wallet for the fee.

Tips, a deposit a client pays when booking online, cash and other payment methods are never split. Want a worked example of every situation, such as a product sale, two team members, a discount, a tip, a deposit or a payment made part by card and part in cash? How much of a payment can go to my wallets?

  • At most 90%: all your company wallet percentages plus the largest team member percentage. At least 10% always stays in your main wallet.

  • Each wallet has one percentage, with up to 2 decimals – no fixed amounts.

  • A new wallet pays out daily.

Only your largest team member wallet counts towards the 90%, because a service only counts for one team member.

When you enter a share, you can't go above what's still possible. Below the share, you see how much your salon keeps and how much already goes to other wallets.

How do I pay a wallet out to another bank account?

A new wallet pays out to the same bank account as your main wallet. To use a different account, add it first:

  1. Go to 'Register' and open your Pay dashboard from the tab at the top.

  2. In the menu on the left, open 'Wallets' and click 'Bank accounts'. This opens our payment provider Adyen, where you add the bank account.

  3. Wait for the bank account to be verified. You'll get an email when it's verified, needs action or is rejected.

Once it's verified, the bank account appears in the list when you create a wallet.

How do I create a wallet?

  1. In your Pay dashboard, open 'Wallets' and click 'Add wallet'.

  2. Enter a 'Wallet name', for example Rent or Savings.

  3. For a team member, switch on 'Team member wallet' and select the 'Team member'.

  4. Enter the share as a percentage. Below the share, you can see how much your salon keeps.

  5. Under 'Pays out to', select the bank account.

  6. Click 'Create wallet'.

You can't change a wallet's team member after you create it, and each team member can have one wallet.

Where do I see my wallet balances and payouts?

On 'Wallets', you see the 'Available' and 'Pending' balance of each wallet. To see one wallet's payouts, click the three dots on the wallet and choose 'View payouts'. The payout history then opens filtered on that wallet.

If a wallet's bank account isn't verified, you'll see a message on the wallet.

How do I change or remove a wallet?

  • To change a wallet, click the three dots on it and choose 'Edit'. Make your changes and click 'Save changes'. A new percentage applies to new payments.

  • To remove a wallet, click the three dots and choose 'Remove wallet'. Its share stops right away and what's left still pays out to its bank account. Until then, the wallet shows as 'Closing'.

  • When a team member is no longer active, their wallet stops receiving money. Remove the wallet to pay out what's left.
