Signed up for Pay and ready to get verified? Find out everything you need to know below, step by step.
Before you start, make sure you have the following at hand:
Chamber of Commerce number (KVK number)
European VAT number (unless you're exempt from VAT)
Passport, identity card or driver's license
IBAN or a bank statement
Watch the video below to see the steps of the verification, or read through the steps underneath it.
How do I start the verification in the app?
You start in the app, on the Pay page. The setup is split into tasks that unlock one after the other:
Open the first task, fill in your company details and save. The form asks for your company name, phone number, company structure, company type, registration number, VAT number, website, address, postal code and city.
If you choose a company structure other than organization, the form also asks for the owner's first and last name. For a sole proprietorship you can tick that your residential address is the same as the business address, or enter a different one.
Don't have a VAT number? Tick the checkbox for that instead of filling in the VAT number field.
Open the second task. It stays locked until your company details are saved. The app then creates a personal link and takes you to a secure page of our payment partner, in the language of your account. The link only works for a few minutes, so if it doesn't load, use the retry button and try again.
When you've finished on that page, you're brought back to the Pay page in the app.
How do I add my business details?
Name and country: this step is probably already filled in with the details you saved in the app. You can still change the country and the company structure here.
Make sure the legal name of the business is the name you're registered under at the Chamber of Commerce (KVK).
Business structure: select the structure that applies to your salon. Unsure? Log in to the Chamber of Commerce to view your details.
Choose whether the bank account you want to be paid on is linked to the salon ('The company I work for') or to your own name ('My name').
Enter the trade name you want to be registered under.
Is it the same as your company name? Tick the checkbox 'Same as the legal name of the company'.
Enter your Chamber of Commerce number*, which has 8 digits. Don't have it at hand? Click 'Save and go to overview' so you don't lose any information.
Enter your European VAT number*. It consists of the country code (for example NL), 9 digits, the letter 'B' and a 2-digit control number.
* You can find both numbers on one of your invoices or by logging in at the Chamber of Commerce.
Enter the address where your salon is registered in the search bar labeled 'Zoekadres'. Don't forget the house number.
The right address isn't in the options? Select 'Add manually' and type it in yourself.
Do most of your salon's activities take place at another location? Then select 'Yes, our main office is located at a different location.'.
Overview: check all the details and click 'Submit'.
How do I add the signatories?
You must add at least one signatory. If you own the salon, you're the person authorised to sign, so tick yourself as 'Signatory' in this step too, or you'll get stuck later on.
Personal details: tick the right boxes for the person you want to register, including 'Signatory'.
Enter the first name, last name, date of birth and country of residence.
Address: enter your personal address in the search bar labeled 'Search address'. Don't forget the house number.
The right address isn't in the options? Select 'Add manually' and type it in yourself.
Do most of your salon's activities take place at another location? Then select 'Yes, our head office is in another location.'.
Verification method: here you verify your identity. A passport, identity card or driver's license is accepted.
Choose how to verify: with a QR code (instant verification), which lets you photograph your ID and upload it straight away, or by uploading a scan of your ID.
Follow the steps for the method you chose.
Overview: check all the details and click 'Submit'.
How do I add my payout details?
Here you verify your bank account, so we know where to transfer your earnings.
First choose the country your bank account is registered in.
Then choose a verification method: via your bank's mobile app or website, or by uploading a copy of a bank statement*.
Follow the steps for the method you chose.
Please note:
Don't upload pictures of bank cards or credit cards, they contain sensitive information.
Check that the bank account number you enter is exactly the same as the one on the document you provide.
Overview: check all the details and click 'Submit'.
A copy of a bank statement must include:
The bank account number or IBAN
A date no more than 12 months ago
The name of the account holder
The bank's name, logo or format
We don't accept:
Handwritten documents
Photographs of bank or credit cards
Edited copies or documents
How do I check and sign the official documents?
Service agreement: read the terms and conditions for payment processing from Adyen. Then select yourself as a signatory and tick the box to say you've read and accept them.
These terms and conditions are currently only available in English.
PCI DSS questionnaire: the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) are global requirements to protect cardholder data. Every business that deals with card payments must sign up to them. Read more here.
Read through the questionnaire. Then select yourself as a signatory and tick the box to say you agree to comply with the PCI DSS requirements.
What do I do if something needs fixing after I submit?
If something in your verification isn't right, the verification page in the app shows a card marked 'Needs fix' that tells you which document to upload again.
ID document: choose the manual upload option, make sure all corners of the document are in the picture, check that it hasn't expired and make sure the picture isn't blurry.
Company document or bank statement: make sure all corners are in the picture, the image isn't cut off, the document is still valid and the picture isn't blurry.
Another card says some details are missing or invalid. Check every field for accuracy, and contact support if you need a hand.
