The online booking widget is a core feature of Salonized. It is a persistent, user-friendly button that integrates directly with your website. This article provides a comprehensive overview of how the widget functions, the step-by-step booking journey for your customers, and the various customisation options available to align the tool with your brand.
What is the booking widget?
The online booking widget is a button visible on every page of your website. It acts as an intuitive bridge between your website and your calendar, allowing customers to view your real-time availability and book appointments effortlessly, without leaving your page.
How does the booking widget work for customers?
Customers can see your online booking widget on your website. Here’s how the booking process looks for them:
Access: When customers click the action button (e.g., ‘Book appointment’), the widget opens, allowing them to book without leaving your current page.
Treatment list: Here, the customer can see a list of treatments with their relative details, such as:
Service description
Treatment duration
Treatment price
Custom announcements
Service selection: Customers can select one or more services in this overview (based on the online calendar settings).
Scheduling: Once the customer has selected the desired services, the ‘Choose time’ button will appear at the bottom-right.
Staff selection: At this point, customers can specify a staff preference (based on the online calendar settings).
Note: If a customer chooses two services that cannot be performed by the same employee, the staff selection will disappear, and the widget will provide appointment options based on a combination of employees to complete the booking.
Recap: In the final step, customers can:
Enter their personal details (name, email, phone)
See a summary of the booking, including the chosen appointment date.
Accept the general terms and conditions for bookings.
Accept to receive the newsletter, optional.
Confirmation: Once a booking is finalised, a summary screen will appear, and the customer will automatically receive a confirmation email.
Note: You will be notified of any new bookings via your account’s notification address.
Can I customise the booking widget settings and appearance?
Yes. You can manage your widget preferences by navigating to Settings > Online Bookings. From there, you have full control over:
Service Details: Toggle the visibility of descriptions, durations, and pricing to keep your menu clean or detailed.
Multi-Service Bookings: Enable customers to book several treatments in one go, governed by your specific calendar rules.
Staff Preferences: Give clients the freedom to pick their favorite stylist or let the system auto-assign based on availability.
Visual Styling: Match your brand by customising the button colour, size, and screen position (bottom left or right).
Custom Alerts: Use the "Show a custom alert" feature to display a message (up to 80 characters) at the very top of the widget—perfect for holiday hours or special promos.
