Dynamic pricing is a powerful tool designed to help you balance your calendar by incentivising bookings during quiet periods or maximising revenue during high-demand hours. This article covers everything from enabling the feature to how it appears for your customers and at your checkout.
How does dynamic pricing benefit my business?
Dynamic pricing allows you to strategically manage your time by creating specific blocks in your calendar with either a discount or a price increase. This is ideal for filling gap hours or making the most of premium time slots.
Fill quiet periods: Offer a discount (e.g., 10% off on Tuesday mornings) to give customers that extra push to book during off-peak hours.
Monetise high demand: Apply a price increase (e.g., 25% extra) for high-demand slots, such as evening hours or weekends, to reflect the value of your time.
Note: This feature is exclusive to the Salonized Pro plan, designed to give you more control over your revenue and efficiency.
How do I enable and set up dynamic pricing in my calendar?
On Salonized, you can easily set up dynamic prices in just a few steps. Here’s how:
Navigate to Marketing (the megaphone icon on the left sidebar) > Discounts.
Click on the toggle to enable dynamic pricing.
Go to your Calendar and use the filter button (top-left) to switch between ‘Normal view’ and ‘Dynamic pricing mode’.
In dynamic pricing mode, appointments are hidden.
Click anywhere on the calendar or select ‘Create price change’ in the top right to create a new slot with dynamic pricing.
Choose between ‘Discount’ or ‘Price increase’, enter your desired percentage, and set the duration (date and time).
You can also set a repetition for the price chance by clicking on ‘Repeat price change’ and selecting the frequency (weekly, daily, monthly).
Important Notes:
Changes apply to all services; it is currently not possible to exclude specific services.
Price changes apply only to online bookings; manual entries will not be affected.
Existing bookings remain unchanged if you add a pricing block retroactively.
What will my customers see when booking online in a slot with dynamic pricing?
To ensure total transparency, the booking widget provides clear visual cues so customers can see any price adjustments before they finalise their appointment.
Visual Indicators: Customers will see a green label for discounts and an orange dot for price increases when choosing their time slot.
Price Transparency:
For discounted slots, both the adjusted price and the specific savings are clearly displayed in the appointment summary.
For price increases, the final total is automatically updated on the last page of the widget (though the specific percentage increase is not explicitly shown).
How do specific discounts work with dynamic pricing?
To ensure your pricing remains consistent and fair, the system follows specific logic:
If you have ‘Last-minute discounts’ active alongside variable pricing, the system will automatically apply the highest available discount and disregard the others.
Customers cannot use a manual discount code if they have selected a time slot that already includes a price change.
How are these dynamic pricings handled during checkout?
When it comes time to pay, the system automatically recognises the dynamic pricing rule applied at the time of booking, ensuring a smooth transition from the chair to the till.
Automatic processing: Whether it is a discount or an increase, the system automatically calculates the total. No manual adjustments required.
Visibility: The price change is clearly visible on the checkout screen.
Price increase notation: Currently, price increases are displayed as a 'negative discount'.
Notifications: A yellow notification will appear at checkout to alert you that the appointment was booked within a price-increase window.
