How do I integrate Google Analytics with Salonized?

Track the data associated with your booking widget, gift card widget and micro-site.

Updated today

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is a powerful tool that helps you understand exactly how customers interact with your online presence. By integrating GA4 with Salonized, you can track the journey of your clients as they navigate your booking widget, purchase gift cards, or browse your mini website. This data offers invaluable insights into user behaviour, helping you identify where customers progress smoothly and where they might drop off, allowing you to optimise your booking process for better results. In this article, you will find out all you need to know about setting up the GA4 tracking and what you can measure.

How do I set up GA4 tracking in my Salonized account?

Setting up the connection between Google Analytics and Salonized is a straightforward process that involves linking your unique ID and configuring your domain settings.

Step 1: Get your Measurement ID

  • Log in to Google Analytics

  • Go to Admin (gear icon) > Data Streams, and select your website.

  • Copy the Measurement ID (it must start with 'G-').

Step 2: Connect Salonized to your domain

  • In the same Data Stream screen, scroll down and click Configure tag settings.

  • Under the Settings tab, click 'Configure your domains'.

  • Click Add condition, choose 'Matches exactly', and enter 'salonized.com'.

  • Click Save.

Step 3: Link the ID in Salonized

  • Paste your 'G-' ID into your Salonized account under Settings > Online bookings > Style and sharing > Tracking.

Step 4: Mark your bookings as Key Events

To ensure your bookings show up as successful results in your Google Analytics reports, you must manually define them as Key Events.

  • In Google Analytics, go to Admin > Key Events.

  • Click New key event.

  • Type the exact name: booking_completed.

  • Click Save.

Note: Repeat this process for giftcard_completed if you use the gift card widget.

What specific actions and steps can I measure for the Booking Widget?

This integration allows you to track specific steps within the Online Booking Widget.

  • What is measured: The general booking widget and custom-made booking widgets.

  • What is NOT measured: The old booking widget, the widget for rescheduling appointments, and the widget for rebooking appointments.

What specific actions and steps can I measure for the Gift Card Widget?

To accurately monitor how your customers purchase gift cards, you can track both specific page views and the interactions (events) that occur on those pages. This allows you to see exactly where users are in the process and identify if they drop off before completing a purchase.

The following steps and events are measured within the Gift Card widget:

Step 2: Personal info

Quick Tip: Don't forget that to see these as successful results in your GA4 reports, you must manually mark giftcard_completed as a Key Event in your Google Analytics Admin settings.
