Adding variations to a specific service is the right way to streamline your daily operations and simplify your clients’ booking experience. By grouping related options, you can create a cleaner, more intuitive menu that saves time for both you and your clients. What are the service variations?
Salonized’s service variations allow you to group different options under one main service.
For example, instead of creating three separate services ("Massage 15 minutes", "Massage 30 minutes", and "Massage 45 minutes"), you can add the main one ("Massage") with different time and price options as variations.
What are the benefits of using service variations?
Using service variations is beneficial both for you and your customers. With them you can:
Group similar services to keep your list clean and organized.
Offer a better overview of your services in the booking widget.
Simplify the booking experience for your customers.
Reduce administrative work and make updates faster.
How can I create services with variations?
To create services with variations:
Log in to Salonized via desktop or app.
Click the gear icon at the bottom-left to open the settings.
Select ‘Services’ on the left-hand menu.
Click on ‘Create new’ > ‘Add service.’
You can also edit an existing service.
Click ‘Add variation’ in the ‘General’ tab.
Adjust the details for each variation (name, duration, price, and special options like buffer time).
Click Save to confirm your changes.

Service 1: Haircut
Variation 1: short hair
Variation 2: medium hair
Variation 3: long hair
Note: On the booking widget, customers will see a ‘Starting from’ price and a service description; they must click it to expand the full list of options/variations.
On the service settings page, services with variations are displayed with a "lasagna-style" icon next to the name. You will also see the number of variations and the price ‘from’.
Can I edit services with variations later?
Yes. From your Salonized account, you can edit, add, or remove variations at any time.
Can I add variations to existing services?
Yes, you can edit your existing services and add variations to them. To do so:
Go to Settings > Services.
Choose the services you want to edit
Click on the three dots icon next to the price.
Click Edit (pencil icon)
Add the variations as explained above.
Will existing bookings be affected if I add variations to an existing service?
No. This will not affect existing bookings. It only changes the experience for new bookings.
However, when editing the first variation, appointments (past and future) related to that variation will be updated (service name, price). To keep current bookings unchanged, create a new service instead.
How does this look for my customers?
In the booking widget, customers will see one main service with a dropdown menu for variations. This will simplify their booking process and offer a streamlined experience.
Note: If you use the Treatwell Integration, services with variations are also shown as single services on the Treatwell Marketplace.
Do other settings apply to all variations?
Yes. All settings configured for the main service are automatically applied to its variations.
How are these variations displayed in reports and exports?
Variations are displayed as individual services in the rest of the app, including reports and exports.
Can I adjust the required staff, rooms, and equipment for a specific variation?
